The flagship, high end department store on Oxford Street is one of the most innovative retail outlets in the UK and, perhaps, the world. It was first opened in 1909 by US entrepreneur Harry Gordon Selfridge, who was the leader in providing modern technology and unusual exhibits to the UK public. The tradition of unique and creative displays still applies today in their window displays, which often attract many tourists and a multitude of media and celebrity interest. The store comprises designer fashion, a food hall, restaurants, and cutting edge, forward thinking interior collections. There is also a ‘Wonder Room’ department, full of luxury jewellery brands and one-off designs.
